In 1901, just three years after thousands of Gold Rushers arrived in Valdez, prospector Joseph Bourke put together a small exhibit of curios that were displayed in various buildings until 1964. These objects are part of the Valdez Museum’s core collection, now numbering approximately 75,000 objects, photographs, and historical documents related to Valdez’s regional history.
Today, the Valdez Museum continues on by preserving, presenting and interpreting our heritage and culture through our collections management, exhibitions, education, and public programs, all of which highlight the diversity of people in Valdez.
All of this happens because of you. Your donation keeps us moving forward and provides:
• Kids the opportunity to learn and have fun as they explore our regional heritage and culture.
• Access to and a lens for understanding the world around us through collections and exhibits.
We are counting on you! Every dollar counts! It’s simple. Please send in your tax-deductible donation today to help us keep the stories alive for generations to come.
If you make a donation online, please leave a note in the comment box that it is for the annual appeal.
Thank you in advance for your most generous support to reach our goal of $5,000!
