Ways of Giving

The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive will gratefully accept a wide range of giving opportunities. Your donation supports the Museum’s future as a vibrant community cultural center and regional destination. There are many ways to give. You can donate online, right now! Otherwise, read on to discover ways to give that works best for you, your company, and your family. Don’t forget many employers will match your gift.

When you make a gift to the Museum’s Annual Appeal, you are making an important commitment in support of accessible heritage and cultural programming for everyone in our community. Our Annual Appeal makes it possible for the Museum to bring touring exhibitions to Valdez. It provides the funding necessary to serve school children each year through our education programs and to present free or low-cost programs such as our Drawing upon the Collection, hands on history and art camp, and our lunch & learn series. We invite you to make a gift now, or consider joining our easy, donor-friendly monthly giving program.

Corporate sponsorship provides local businesses with an opportunity to align their brand with top quality programming that improves the quality of life in our community, and reaches more than 25,000 patrons each year. We offer plenty of opportunities for visible recognition through a variety of vehicles that include our website, exhibition catalogs, gallery signage, and the Museum’s quarterly publication, The Inside View. Corporate sponsors can choose to support an upcoming exhibition, our annual Roadhouse Dinner & Fundraising event, or any number of public or school-based programs we present each year.

The Museum may accept gifts of tangible personal property, either as additions to the permanent collection or for resale to support the Museum. All gifts of tangible property are subject to review and approval by the Museum’s Collections Committee.

The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive hosts a “Roadhouse Dinner & Fundraiser” annually. Purchase a ticket and party with us, all in support of the Museums exhibitions and programming! Check our events page for gala news.

Publicly traded securities, shares of stock in closely-held companies, bonds and government issues may be given to the Valdez Museum & Historical Archive.

The Museum may accept gifts of real estate—including homes, condominiums, commercial properties, farmland, rental properties and undeveloped land—after a thorough review of several factors, including an appraisal, a marketability assessment and an environmental assessment. Gifts of this nature normally take 60-90 days to complete. If considering such a gift, please allow for the appropriate time to complete the transaction.

Tribute Gifts mark special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and graduations. Memorial Gifts express your sympathy or remember a loved one. A Tribute or Memorial Gift is an especially meaningful way to recognize friends, family, business associates, and special occasions, while at the same time supporting the collections, exhibitions, and educational programs of one of the region’s greatest treasures. Your contribution will be acknowledged with a personalized card sent to the honored individual or family—without reference, of course, to the amount of the gift. In addition, the name of the person being honored, along with your name as the donor, will be listed in our Annual Report.

Consider the Valdez Museum & Historical Archive in your estate planning. Through bequests, beneficiary designation, and charitable remainder trusts, it is easy to mark your legacy at the Museum.
