Valdez, Alaska, March 8, 2021:At its meeting on February 19, 2021 VMHA Building Committee members met with the project architects to address stakeholder feedback on conceptual design elements for the new museum facility. They considered design revisions and discussed preferences such as color and materials for the outside cladding and window treatments; plus, delineation of office, retail, public and exhibit space for the interior.
The first set of preliminary designs were shown to the Committee at its January 15, 2021 meeting, and later shared with the public. That was followed by a series of stakeholder interviews with people wanting to give input and/or learn more about the process of moving forward with our New Museum Project. The information gained has been invaluable for the Museum Board, Staff and Design Team in engaging the community and keeping transparent during all phases of the project.
There will be a Community Open House at the Valdez Museum on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 when the public is invited in to review the design documents and meet the architects working on this project.
