During Gold Rush Days you don’t have to get arrested in order to enjoy riding through town on the Valdez Hoosegow, just a fancy name for a traveling jail. Hop on the Hoosegow Tour of Old Valdez Historic Homes & Businesses at 1:30 pm for a ride that starts at the Whitney Museum on the Prince William Sound College campus. You’ll go for a 1.5 hour ride and see the historic buildings that were relocated to new Valdez from the original town site after the 1964 Earthquake and Tsunami. Museum Educator Faith Revell is your guide, and she’ll keep you entertained with stories about the sturdy people who were determined to flourish in a new place after the heartbreak of losing their town.
