Valdez, Alaska, July 21, 2020 The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive recently launched our VMHA 2020 Annual Appeal with the theme Staying Connected. Once a year we ask everyone to open their hearts and pocket books to help us continue offering visitors a chance to experience the culture and history of our region. This year has been especially challenging due to the COVID 19 closure from March 13 to June 30, 20202. During that time staff and volunteers worked hard keeping the Museum connected to the public by creating relevant and entertaining online programs. The Museum reopened on July 1, 2020 and staff continue to produce these programs, as well as develop new ones.

With reduced visitor capacity and cancelled tours, summer revenues will be modest. So now, more than ever, the Museum is depending on the generosity of VMHA supporters to help us through these challenging times. In her appeal letter, Board President Donna Lane writes,

I hope this letter makes you aware of how active the Museum has been to provide events designed to keep contact with you, its supporters.

Lane says she enjoys being a volunteer board member as well as a patron of the Valdez Museum,

I am proud to be on the Board of Directors. Pleased with how the Museum interacts with our community, preserves our history and stretches our imagination. I always mention visiting the Museum as a highlight to visiting friends and family.”
