Valdez Alaska, November 15, 2022 – The Valdez Museum & Historical Archive is grateful to recently have been given an award from the Copper Valley Electric Association Community Foundation. Our organization participated in the Foundation’s 2022 Contribution Season. The Foundation approved our $1,000 request, as well as an additional $1,000 for our temporary art exhibitions.
This award will allow the Valdez Museum to further improve our organization for the production, implementation, and programming of several new exhibits for next year 2023, including: “My Inside, Out,” art by Glennallen artist Magdéleine Ferru and the statewide juried photography show “Rarefied Art”. Ferru’s art combines two-dimensional and three-dimensional expression; pairs conceptual playfulness with representational form and coalesces traditional and innovative modes. “My Inside, Out” will pair her hand-made experimental books with photographs that inform the books’ contents and encompass a variety of themes. “Rarefied Light,” is an annual juried show held by the Alaska Photographic Center and supports fine-art photographers and photography in Alaska. To learn more about our upcoming exhibits check out on our website.
The Valdez Museum is a premier institution dedicated to the presentation of arts and cultural programming in our region. As a dedicated arts space, we are a gathering place for public dialogue about art and the exchange of ideas and supporting our community’s curiosity, interest, and appreciation of the arts. We serve outlying communities within the Copper River Basin and Prince William Sound such as Tatitlek, Kenny Lake, and Glennallen, as well as serving Valdez. The arts are an important part of the Museum’s mission and the region’s human story and we are thankful for CVEA Community Foundation’s support to be able to do this work.
A big Thank You goes out to the Foundation’s Contributions Committee for their hard work in distributing awards.
