VMHA Annual Report 2020 Available Now

Valdez, Alaska, September 30, 2020 – Each year in October the Valdez Museum and Historical Archive (VMHA) Board and Staff give an overview of the past year’s progress and accomplishments to our corporate members, the Valdez City Council. VMHA Board President Donna Lane writes of this year’s challenges in particular,

“2020 has uniquely challenged operations of many Valdez businesses, including the Valdez Museum. Thankfully, with creativity and hard work, the Museum is strong and healthy in this chaotic time.”

The Annual Report 2020 contains budget summaries; updates on the Museum’s current financial health; plus, cultural and economic impacts on the community. In addition to maintaining operations after a nearly four-month closure during this global pandemic, the VMHA is moving forward on efforts to build a new consolidated museum facility. And staff continue to offer new programs through the Creative Connections writes Museum Director Patricia Relay,

“We are creating new online programs that teach, entertain and stimulate creative energy.”

She says VMHA Annual Report will be presented to Valdez City Council members at its October 6, 2020 work session,

“This meeting will be a time for us to accomplish two important advocacy efforts—one, to introduce our 2021 operating budget and two, to encourage support of Wolf/Henneberry Eddy as the architects to design the new museum.”
