This book is published in conjunction with the exhibition Communities, Disaster, and Change, presented at Valdez Museum &Historical Archive in the summer of 2014.

Communities, Disaster, and Change provides a twist on the fiftieth anniversary of the Good Friday Earthquake Commemoration through its connection with other communities and other disasters. Funded by the Western States Arts Federation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the City of Valdez, the Rasmuson Foundation through the Harper Arts Touring Fund, the Alaska State Council of the Arts, and the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, Communities, Disaster, and Change features work by twenty-eight of Alaska’s finest artists, reacting to the theme of how artists and communities relate to their own experience with natural disasters.
