Public Notice: End of Appeal Period

Valdez, Alaska, May 7, 2020 – In accordance with AS 14.57.210. Acquisition of Title to Undocumented Property, and VMHA Collections Policy, the City of Valdez approved by resolution on March 3, 2020, to remove 100 sets of items from the museum collection. For the Deaccession List click here. As pursuant to state statutes, May 6, 2020 marks the end of the requisite 30-day appeal period. Disposal of the deaccessioned items will occur as specified in the VMHA Collections Policy. Click here.

Additionally, the Valdez Museum and Historical Archive, Inc. (VMHA) has classified 108 item sets as Undocumented Property as defined in AS 14.57.210. In accordance with Alaska State Law and the VMHA Collection Policy a 45-day appeal has been posted from February 3 to March 2, 2020.  May 7, 2020 marks the end of the requisite 45-day appeal period. Unclaimed items will be claimed under title to the Valdez Museum and Historical Archive.
