New Museum Project: We Heard You

New Museum Project: We Heard You

Valdez, Alaska, February 5, 2021:A month into 2021 has the Valdez Museum Board and Staff focusing on efforts to build a new museum. Zoom meetings galore yield an exchange of ideas for how to reach our goal: a consolidated facility with all the collections and exhibits housed under one roof. We have a team of architects to help us visualize the new building; but most importantly, we are grateful to you, our supporters who believe in the achievable goal of building a new museum. We commit to keeping the process transparent, with open lines of communication through our website, social media and stakeholder interviews.

When concerns were voiced over whether or not the Old Town Model will be part of the new museum facility, the team of Wolf Architecture/Hennebery Architects provided the Building Committee with possible solutions at its meeting on Jan. 29, 2021. A clear choice was made by the museum Board and Staff to keep the model within the new building.

In addition, as the design process continues, museum staff are conducting “stakeholder interviews” in order to hear from people who want to share their thoughts about the New Museum Project.

This is your community museum and we welcome your input. If you would like to schedule an interview please contact:
