Lectures

Lectures

Knowledgeable and talented Alaskans lecture at the museum on a range of topics including history, art, nature and energy. In past programs, author Nancy Lethcoe spoke on the work of late 19c photographer Neal Benedict. Historian Katie Ringsmuth recounted stories about the “Wrangell Mountain Sky Boys.” Noted back country guide Matt Kinney and Tabitha Gregory shared their experiences “Backpacking in the Alaska Range and Wrangell St. Elias.”

Award-winning authors, such as John Clark and Naomi Gaede-Penner, sign and sell their books at the museum. Informal “lunch and learn” series crop up throughout the year. Check here for future lectures.

TUESDAY NITE HISTORY TALK

Tuesday Nite History Talks are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Valdez Museum on Egan Drive from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

A wide range of topics are covered by different presenters each month. Some relate to the history of our region, while others focus on interests such as photography, science and even treasured family recipes!

Tuesday Nite History Talks are generously supported in part by the Valdez United Way.
