Ch. 4; [Note: both Foster & Wilcox were on Hera]; Summary: A letter from Chas. W. Wilcox, Jr. indicates the Danbury party will remain in Alaska over the winter. They have a permanent camp at a convenient point, and are with enjoyable company. He sent home snapshots of camp life. They had one problem–a flooding river that left four feet of water on the flat they were camped on, Danbury CT News, 4/19/98; Summary: Charles H. Wilcox JR. has written a letter to his father, who is manager of the Danbury Milling Co. It was a short letter stating that after 69 days of travel and hard work, he had reached the other side of the glacier. Danbury CT News, 7/19/99; Summary: A letter from B.Taylor states he will leave Seattle for Alaska on Sept. 12. He will go to Orca and locate a copper claim in that vicinity.
