Heritage Kits

The curators of education and exhibits team up to develop and launch new multi-sensory exhibits that spur the creation of related programs. Hands-on opportunities abound at the museum. The conversation between education and exhibits is a dynamic collegial one that culminates in a richer visitor experience.

For example, visitors create paper versions of Eskimo snow goggles and Alutiiq hunting visors at stations in the Native Gallery. Chugach heritage kit components provide further tactile learning about tradition and practice. Flashlights and magnifiers placed strategically, illuminate text for readers and magnify design details. Scavenger hunts encourage sleuthing to discover remarkable collection items.
