“Spring into Art,” is the exceedingly popular Valdez Museum’s annual student art show featuring the works of Valdez student artists from pre-school through college. It has become one of the museum’s most anticipated yearly events, offering students the opportunity to display their work at the museum and realize the value of art-making. The show’s participation has grown bigger every year, with over 327 works exhibited by 300 participating artists in 2013. That is a significant increase over 2012 totals, when 200 students participated and created 275 works.

As a result of this burgeoning concern, the exhibition has outgrown the museum’s display space, leading the museum to partner with the Valdez Consortium Library as the venue for a dual-site exhibition. This dynamic collaboration has been well-received by the community and resulted in arts programming at the library as well as the museum proper.

In a community lacking a strong visual arts program, this show fills an important niche in encouraging students to explore the visual arts and express themselves creatively.
