Learn how to make these beautiful scrappy quilted covers with Jan Whalen. Come on down to the museum to sign up and reserve your spot.

Supply list for Scrappy Quilted Covers:

  • One piece cotton fabric 12” x 22” (This fabric won’t see the light of day, so you can use something you don’t like)
  • One piece Steam-a-seam 12” x 22” ** be sure this is the kind that’s sticky on both sides
  • 3 pieces cotton fabric: 12” x 22”,  12” x 15”, and  12” x 21”(these will be the lining and pockets on the inside)
  • one piece batting 12” x 22”
  • fabric scraps (bring what you have, we’ll share – nothing is too small)
  • scissors
  • sewing machine and thread
  • pins
  • optional : button and 12” thin ribbon, mat and cutter
  • Steam a seam

Note, these items may be purchased at the Smiling Seal in Valdez if you don’t own them already.

Jan will bring:

  • Ironing board and iron
  • fabric scraps
  • mat and cutter
