2018 is the Year of the Bird!  The Valdez Museum presents:

Basic Birding July 25-27, 1-5 pm, Valdez Museum on Egan & around the Valdez Community

FREE to VMHA members or $30 per 3-day workshop

Geared to middle school students and families, this program teaches about birds and birding. It uses a mix of lessons created by the California Academy of Sciences, the Audubon Society and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The three-day workshop is taught by Museum Educator Faith Revell who was trained in “Bird Scouts,” a Science Action Club program originating with the California Academy of Sciences.

At the museum learn about bird shapes, sizes, colors and patterns along with identifying features, habitats, behaviors and more. In the field observe birds, identify, and count what you see, then record and send your findings to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Birding fun at the museum includes bird games plus creating bird designs and drawings.
