12 Free Days of Christmas
Museums are designed as gathering places, for people, ideas and activities. This year, we invite you all to visit the Valdez Museum during the month of December (and all the other months, too) to spend time learning more about the history of the region and engaging in spirited family-friendly activities. We’ll put on the holiday music and deck the halls, transforming the place into a wintery museumland punctuated with reds, greens and golds. We will welcome you from noon to 5 pm on 12 days in the month and offer a hands-on program from 1 to 4:30 pm on most of these days. For a printed flyer of the day’s events, swing by the museum and pick up a copy at the front desk or email the VMHA’s educator, Faith Revell, for an electronic version.
The museum will offer behind-the-scenes tours and a winter photo walk in addition to the slate of other activities. Call 835-2764 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a behind-the-scenes tour with Curator Andrew Goldstein, on the 21st from 2-4 pm. Tours will take place at the Annex in the archives and last approximately 30 minutes. Learn how the museum preserves the region’s history.
Bring your cameras and join in a winter photography walk bright and early on the 16th beginning at 9 am. This event is open to photographers of all ages and abilities. Participants will regroup at the museum to share their images over hot beverages. Bring your laptop or tablet for picture viewing.
We will kick off 12 FREE Days of Christmas on Friday, December 8th, get out the big bubble wands to celebrate, and supply you with all that is needed to create. Plan to explore, stitch, paint, assemble and craft an array of projects—great for gift giving.
Think, too, of how important the museum is to you and the community and consider becoming a member during the month of December. Your valued support will play out during the whole of 2018.
May your holidays be bright and merry!
